This week back in 1985, One More Night by Phil Collins was the number 1 song on the Billboard charts. It knocked REO Speedwagon’s Can’t Fight This Feeling off the number one position and stayed there for two weeks until it was knocked off by We Are The World. It reached number two on the Australia charts.
The story goes that Phil Collins was messing around with beats on a drum machine when he came up with the idea for the chorus. The rest of the same developed rather quickly after that.
I was never a massive Phil Collins fan, but I did love In The Air Tonight, especially the bit where the real drums come in. I’ve grown to like One More Night – it’s a well written song and it’s not over-produced.
