This one takes me back – August 1985 and Tears For Fears were on Countdown. For those readers who aren’t Australian, Countdown was HUGE here during the 80’s It was a one-hour TV show that screened at 6pm on Sunday nights. Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum was the host and he helped break many international (and Australian) bands.

At the time, Tears For Fears were enjoying a lot of success and appeared on Countdown to play some songs and also guest-host a portion of the show.

This video shows the hosting portion of the show (love the shirts).

And here they are playing Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Well, not actually ‘playing’ the song, but really miming along to the track. Doesn’t matter. It’s the 80’s.

The funny thing is that I wasn’t actually a huge Tears For Fears fan back in the 80’s. Their music seems to have grown on me over the years.
